Two Arrests Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.
A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.
These detentions follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.
A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and have since been released.
Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.
The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
